Black Forest Oak

The Black Forest in south western Germany is said to take its name from the shadows of the trees on the mountainsides. This primeval woodland is highly valued and the oak is only cut under the strict supervision of forest rangers. In order to conserve the environment, as soon as the trees are felled new ones are replanted in their place.
